what we do
Otra Surgical Options was created to provide you and your primary veterinarian another (Otra) option for specialty surgical procedures. Dr. Gallegos will work closely with your primary veterinarian to have your pet’s surgical procedure performed in a place that you are familiar with. This can decrease the stress and anxiety of going to a large emergency or specialty veterinary hospital. In the event Dr. Gallegos is unable to perform your pet’s surgery at your primary veterinary clinic, you have the option for surgery to be performed at Tillie Lake Veterinary Clinic in Slinger, WI, conveniently located in central Washington County. This is Otra Surgical Options’ home base. As a Board-Certified Surgeon, Dr. Gallegos will utilize and integrate evidence-based approaches to maximize your pet’s outcome.
As a consumer and pet owner, you have options with regards to pursuing specialty surgery. Otra Surgical Options is here to be that other option. Dr. Gallegos will work with you to ensure you are offered affordable specialty surgery in a space most accommodating to you and your pet.
PROCEDURES OFFERED
Doctor Gallegos offers the TPLO procedure to stabilize the stifle (knee) with Cranial Cruciate Ligament (CCL) injury/rupture, patella correction/stabilization for Medial Patella Luxation (MPL), and most fractures in both dogs and cats. Your veterinarian and Dr. Gallegos will discuss what procedure is best for you and your beloved pet.
In addition to orthopedic cases, Dr. Gallegos also specializes in soft tissue surgeries, including:
ORTHOPEDIC
- Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO) – stabilizes the stifle (knee) with a ruptured ACL/CCL
- Patella Luxation Correction – for medial (MPL) or lateral patella luxation (LPL)
- Angular Limb Deformity (ALD) correction for congenital or traumatic deformities
- Fracture Fixation – for most long bone fractures
- Arthrodesis (joint fusion) – for unstable or fractured joints
- Non-surgical treatment options like intra-articular (joint) injections for arthritis and recommendations for rehabilitation
